Youth run ‘Bold and Cold’ needs race day volunteers

If you are young, fearless of the cold, and unbreakable, CameronHelps has a great 5k run planned December 14 in Brampton.  If you want to support a good cause, like to volunteer and have a warm heart, then there is a need and room for you to help out at the first inaugural Team Unbreakable ‘Bold and Cold 5k.’

The event is planned as the culmination to the fall Team Unbreakable program in Ontario, with up to 14 high schools participating and over 200 students. “The event was planned to celebrate everyone’s progress and run in an environment that is free from competition and not adversarial,” says Progam Director John Knox.

The run is open to the students and youth in Team Unbreakable programs past and present along with their parents. To hold such a big event as this, numerous volunteers are required: from handing out water, to looking after bag drops, to preparing race kits and managing school teams.

If you want to help out, please contact us at volunteer@cameronhelps.ca. The run starts at Heart Lake Secondary School and the route follows a circuit along the Etobicoke Creek and Heart Lake Conservation Area. The event is at 10 a.m.

The Bold and Cold run is also looking for any individual or companies who wish to donate items for the swag bags or to defray some of the run costs.

“Every individual gets a finishing medal. We want to treat everyone like rock stars. It’s meant to be a group celebration foremost, to make everyone feel special,” says Knox.

The Team Unbreakable program is managed by CameronHelps, a registered charity which believes physical health can contribute to mental health.
