Two Bold and Cold 5k runs this November supporting Team Unbreakable programs

Grab your hat and mitts, it’s time for the Team Unbreakable Bold & Cold 5k. This year there are two events to choose from: Nov. 29 in Brampton and Nov. 30 in Oakville.

The runs are culmination events for the 12-week high school student running programs in both Peel Region and Halton Region. However, anyone can register and be part of the run/walk.  You can now register for the runs at: www.boldandcold5k. The event is also looking for volunteers and race sponsors. Those who register have their own pledge pages where they can invite others to support them.

“The run is a great event for everyone, teens and families, with food afterwards for participants. It is one of the few races available this time of year and provides a good goal for those who don’t want to lose their fitness levels over the winter,” says John Knox, CameronHelps’ Program Director.  “The kids and their coaches have been working really hard to achieve the goal of running 5k.”

Adds Bryn Perras, Event Director, “This is a major fundraiser for our charity, and we really appreciate the support we get in runners, volunteers and sponsors to keep our programs available in our high schools.”

Organized by the charity CameronHelps, the Peel Region event is Saturday, Nov. 29 at Heart Lake Secondary School in Brampton, starting at 10 a.m. The Halton Region Bold & Cold 5k is Sunday Nov. 30 at Holy Trinity Secondary School in Oakville, also starting at 10 a.m. The events are listed at www.teamunbreakable.ca

The Team Unbreakable run program is sanctioned by the Halton and Peel public and Catholic school boards. The program includes videos, speakers and instructional information to teach teens about the benefits of physical health on mental health.
