Kiwanis Club of Toronto provides funding for Team Unbreakable Race Arches

Thanks to a generous grant from Kiwanis Club of Toronto 100th anniversary project, Team Unbreakable has a new race start arch for this weekend’s Toronto Bold and Cold 5k goal race at Coronation Park. The start arch is a prominent display of the Team Unbreakable brand and logo at each of the 6 goal races now run in Halton, Peel and Toronto. “We had to rent or borrow an arch, and the many opportunities to proudly display who we are was lost”, said program manager John Knox. “We try to make each goal race a special event for the students that dedicated themselves to accomplishing their 5k. The arch is one more detail to strongly identify us,” added Nils Blondon, fellow program coordinator.

to Executive Director Carl Worrell

The $2500 cheque was awarded at a gala honouring the 100 charitable Toronto organizations Kiwanis chose for the occasion. We’re pleased to have been chosen to share in the celebration. It was a special night that displayed the Kiwanis organization commitment to charity. Hugh Williams, Kiwanis Executive Director, and the organizing committee invited such Toronto notables as Art Eagleton and Mayor John Tory, and Prime Minister Trudeau sent a representative to punctuate the evening’s festivities.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity for charities to discover potential collaborations. Team Unbreakable looks forward to the possibility of working with the Kiwanis “Key Clubs” in Toronto high schools. According to Carl Worrell, Executive Director, “I see some wonderful opportunities to expand both programs for the benefit of Toronto young people.”

Kiwanis is well known in the city for its Boys and Girls Clubs and Kiwanis Music Festivals.
