Among the joys and satisfaction of running or walking, you can also be part of something special this May, by raising money for suicide prevention among our youth. This year, at the Mississauga Marathon, CameronHelps has set its fundraising goals higher, because we want to help more teens and young adults.
You can help by being part of the Team Unbreakable group, and find people to sponsor you. You can run either the Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K or walk the 5k. CameronHelps is one of the official designated charities, so as a pparticipant you can create your own on-line pledge page and ask friends and neighbours to sponsor you.
You can register now at www.mississaugamarthon.com. The full and half marathons are on Sunday May 4 in the early morning, while the 10K and 5K races are on Saturday in the early evening. There is also a 2k fun walk on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. There is a special charity rate for race registration and if you raise $250 for CameronHelps, we will refund your race fee entirely. This year we are having prizes for top fundraisers and other awards for participation.
The Mississauga Marathon allows participants to personalize their own fundraising page with a goal, pictures and videos. You can send emails to friends and family, asking for their support and enter offline donations. You can share your page with social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest.
If you are new to running and want to challenge yourself, Jennifer Barnett from CameronHelps will be teaching a half marathon workshop. There are other clinics for the full marathon as well. Click here to register http://www.runnersmark.com/Workshops_s/2155.htm It is held at Runner’s Mark in Port Credit.
This year also marks a very special event for David Harris, the CEO and Founder of CameronHelps. David will be running his 10th marathon in Mississauga in memory of his son Cameron. David has pledged to run 19 marathons, each representing one year of his son’s life.
