CameronHelps hires new fundraising manager

Meet Jennifer Barnett, our new Fundraising Manager. As leader of our fundraising initiatives, she will apply for grants and approach corporations and foundations for funding. Jennifer is also taking on the fundraising aspect of CameronHelps events like the Mississauga Marathon Race Weekend and the Team Unbreakable Father’s Day 5K Run/Walk.

Her role includes working closely with Program Manager John Knox and the charity’s volunteer committees. With the Communications Committee, Jennifer will help prepare promotional strategies that develop awareness of CH programs and initiatives. With Volunteer Coordinator Bryn Perras, she will assist with volunteer recruitment, orientation, training and placement.

“I’ve had my eye on CameronHelps for a couple of years, as breaking the stigma around mental health is important to me,” said Jennifer. Jennifer grew up and still lives in Port Credit.

She intends to network heavily with the local businesses in her community so they know about the charity and its activities. An active member of the local running community, Jennifer would like to see corporate teams entered in the Father’s Day run.

“We need to raise funds to hire more program directors so that we can get our running program into more schools and groups,” said Jennifer. “Right now, we have more venues that want programs than we can serve. Our program in more locations means more kids served, and ultimately, more lives saved.”

Jennifer has a Bachelor of Arts and is working towards a Leadership Essentials Certificate from the University of Toronto. Formerly employed with Dundee Securities Corp./Dundee Capital Markets as a research manager, Jennifer handled the day-to-day operational and management issues of their Equity Research department.
